Tender greenhouse perennial that is grown as a greenhouse annual in temperate areas. It has bright-green, lobed, tooth-edged hairy leaves. Flowers, 1–1 ½in (25–36mm) wide, are borne in clusters from midwinter to early spring. Some have frilly edges. Colors include white, pink, red, orange, and purple. Like Primula obconica, the leaves can cause rashes on arms and wrists, especially when damp.

Height: 10in (25cm)

Spread: 8–10in (20–25cm)

Winter: 50°F (10°C); avoid high temperatures. Direct light without full sun, or indirect light

Summer: Not applicable, unless raising your own plants from seeds (see below)

Care: When flowering, keep compost moist but not waterlogged. From when flower buds appear, feed every 10–14 days with weak liquid fertilizer. No repotting is necessary.

Propagation: Sow seeds in seed trays from late spring to midsummer. Place in a cold frame at 45°F (7°C). Barely cover seeds with compost.
