Stag Horn Fern: Platycerium bifurcatum
Also known as Platycerium alcicorne, this distinctive, tender fern develops antler-like, mid-green fronds covered with minute hairs. It is best displayed attached to a piece of wood or cork secured to a wall in a conservatory, or it can be suspended. When young, it can be grown in a pot. Platycerium grande (Elk Horn Fern) is similar but larger and may reach 5ft (1.5m) or more wide.

Summer: 55–75°F (13–24°C). Light shade |
Care: In winter, keep compost slightly moist; in summer, water freely and feed every 4 weeks with weak liquid fertilizer. Repot in spring when roots fill the container, often annually when young but later every 2–3 years. |
