Golden Ball Cactus: Notocactus leninghausii
Sometimes known as Parodia leninghausii, this slow-growing desert cactus is initially globular, but after about 3 years has a cylindrical outline. It has a pale-green body, with about 30 ribs bearing a mixture of pale- and golden-yellow spines. From early to late summer, it produces bright yellow flowers.
Height: 7–10in (18–25cm) in a pot, but can reach 3ft (90cm) when in a border, greenhouse, or conservatory |

Winter: 41–50°F (5–10°C). Full sun |
Summer: 50–75°F (10–24°C). Full sun |
Care: In winter, keep compost dry, especially if temperature falls below the level indicated; in summer, water freely and feed every 2 weeks with weak liquid fertilizer. |
