Bishop’s Cap Cactus, Bishop’s Hood, Monk’s-Hood: Astrophytum myriostigma
When young, this cactus has a globular body, later cylindrical. It is dark green, almost gray, with silvery scales and 5–6 prominent ribs running up its body. During early and midsummer it bears sweet-scented yellow flowers up to 1 ½in (36mm) wide.
