Azalea, Indian Azalea: Azalea indica
Properly known as Rhododendron simsii, this small, bushy, evergreen shrub is encouraged in garden centers to flower from mid- to late winter. The small, narrowly oval to pear-shaped, dark-green leaves create an attractive background for the funnel-shaped flowers. Colors include crimson, salmon, pink, and white, in single- and double-flowered forms. There are also bicolored forms.
