Scarlet Ball Cactus: Notocactus haselbergii
Also known as Parodia haselbergii, this desert cactus has a globular or cylindrical nature, with a flattened top. Its bright-green body is covered with whitish-yellow spines and 30 or more shallow, spiraling ribs. The woolly white areoles bear about 20 spines. During late spring and early summer, it produces bright orange-red flowers.
