Hard Fern, Miniature Tree Fern, Rib Fern: Blechnum gibbum
Deeply cut, mid-green, stiff, crowded fronds form a spiral at the top in mature plants. Eventually, this fern forms a trunk. Blechnum brasiliense is another tree-like fern with large fronds and, eventually, a trunk 3ft (90cm) high.

Winter: 59–64°F (15–18°C). Full sun, or direct light without full sun |
Summer: 64–75°F (18–24°C). Indirect light or light shade |
Care: In winter, keep compost moist but not continually saturated; in summer, water freely but ensure good drainage, and feed every 3–4 weeks with weak liquid fertilizer. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every 3–4 years. |
