Good-Luck Palm, Parlour Palm: Chamaedorea elegans
Feather-type palm, earlier known as Neanthe bella, often sold when about 6in (15cm) high, in a group of palms in a large container. Later, it can be repotted into a large pot. It produces mid- to dark-green, fairly wide leaflets on arching stems.

Winter: 50–55°F (10–13°C). Direct light without full sun |
Summer: 55–64°F (13–18°C). Indirect light or light shade |

Care: In winter, keep compost barely moist; in summer, provide more water but ensure good drainage, and feed every 4 weeks with weak liquid fertilizer. Repot in spring only when the compost is congested—it dislikes root disturbance. |

Propagation: Sow seeds in spring, place in 75–80°F (24–27°C). |
