Paper Flower: Bougainvillea x buttiana ‘Mrs. Butt’
Deciduous climber with a vigorous nature. The flowers are insignificant; it is grown for its cascades of rose-crimson bracts that fade to magenta. There are many cultivars, with papery bracts lasting several months.

Care: In winter, keep compost slightly moist; in summer, water generously but ensure good drainage. From late spring to late summer, feed every 2–3 weeks. Repot in late winter or early spring when roots fill the pot, usually every year when young. |

Propagation: Take 3in (7.5cm) stem cuttings with heels (pieces of older wood attached to the cutting’s base) during summer. Insert in equal parts moist peat and sharp sand. Place in 70°F (21°C). |
