This tender, evergreen twining, climbing shrub has dark-green, leathery, oval leaves about 3in (7.5cm) long. In summer and into autumn, it produces heads of up to 8 exquisitely scented, waxy-white flowers, 1 ½in (36mm) long. When young, it can be grown over a 10–12in (25–30cm) hoop-like frame; later more substantial support is needed.

Height: 10ft (3m) when in a conservatory; initially, and when in a pot 6–8in (15–20cm) wide, it is much smaller—often no more than 18in (45cm) high

Spread: Climber

Winter: 50–55°F (10–13°C). Direct light without full sun

Summer: 64–70°F (18–21°C). Direct light without full sun, or indirect light

Care: In winter, keep compost slightly moist; in summer, water freely but ensure it is well drained. Feed every 2–3 weeks from late spring to late summer. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, initially every year, but later every 2–3 years.

Propagation: Take 4in (10cm) cuttings from side-shoots in late spring or early summer and insert in equal parts moist peat and sharp sand. Place in 70°F (21°C).
