Often erroneously known as the Castor Oil Plant (Ricinus communis), this moderately hardy, shrub-like plant has large, palm-like, rich glossy-green leaves with 7–9 coarsely tooth-edged lobes. Clusters of rounded white flowers appear only occasionally on houseplants. ‘Variegata’ has white tips and edges to its leaves.
