Dwarf Fan Palm, European Fan Palm, European Palm, Mediterranean Fan Palm: Chamaerops humilis
This fan-type palm, normally tufted but occasionally with a trunk, grows 30ft (9m) high in its native area. It develops fans of gray-green segments, forming leaves up to 1 ½ft (45cm) long and 1ft (30cm) across, borne on coarse-toothed leafstalks.

Care: In winter, keep compost lightly moist; in summer, water freely but ensure it does not become waterlogged, and feed every 4 weeks with weak liquid fertilizer. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every 2–3 years. |

Propagation: In spring, remove suckers from around the base, transfer to individual pots, and place in 50–55°F (10–13°C). |
