Christ Plant, Christ Thorn, Crown of Thorns: Euphorbia millii
Earlier known as Euphorbia splendens, this tender, semi-succulent, semi-prostrate shrub has a woody nature and spiny stems. They are sparsely clad in pear-shaped, mid-green leaves, with flowers formed of two kidney-shaped, crimson bracts (modified leaves) throughout the year, but mostly in winter.

Care: In winter, keep compost barely moist; in summer, water freely and feed every 2 weeks. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every 2 years. |

Propagation: Take 3in (7.5cm) stem-tip cuttings in midsummer. Allow cut ends to dry before inserting them in equal parts moist peat and sharp sand. Place in 61–64°F (16–18°C). |
