Beefsteak Geranium, Creeping Sailor, Mother of Thousands, Pedlar’s Basket, Rowing Sailor, Strawberry Begonia, Strawberry Geranium: Saxifraga stolonifera
Earlier known as Saxifraga sarmentosa, this tufted, trailing evergreen perennial has mid-green, round leaves with silvery veins. Their undersides are flushed red. Long, trailing, wiry stems bear plantlets at their tips, and white flowers appear during summer. ‘Tricolor’ has leaves variegated white, pink, and green, with red edges.

Care: In winter, keep compost barely moist; in summer, water freely but ensure good drainage, and feed every 3–4 weeks. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every year for young and robustly growing plants. |
