Brain Plant, Cathedral Plant, Cathedral Windows, Peacock Plant: Calathea makoyana
Now botanically known as Goeppertia makoyana and earlier as Maranta makoyana, this beautiful evergreen perennial has oval silvery-green leaves, 6in (15cm) long, with mid-green edges irregularly marked by dark-green splashes. The undersides have reddish-purple splashes.

Care: In winter, keep compost evenly moist; in summer, water freely and feed every 2 weeks. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every year when young. |

Propagation: Divide congested plants in spring. Until established, place in 55–61°F (13–16°C). |
