Boat Lily, Men in a Boat, Moses in His Cradle, Moses in the Bulrushes, Moses on a Raft, Oyster Plant, Purple-Leaved Spiderwort, Two Men in a Boat, Three Men in a Boat: Rhoeo spathacea
Also known as Tradescantia spathacea, this evergreen perennial has stiff, lance-shaped, glossy dark-green leaves with rich purple undersides. ‘Vittata’ (sometimes sold as ‘Vittatum’ or ‘Variegata’) has leaves finely striped in cream.

Care: In winter, keep compost evenly moist; in summer, water freely and feed every 2–3 weeks. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every year when young. |

Propagation: Take 3–4in (7.5–10cm) long basal shoots in spring. Place them in 61–64°F (16–18°C). |
