Barroom Plant, Cast Iron Plant, Iron Plant, Parlor Plant: Aspidistra elatior
Earlier known as Aspidistra lurida, this evergreen perennial has glossy, dark-green, oblong to lance-shaped leaves, up to 20in (50cm) long. The variegated form (Aspidistra elatior ‘Variegata’) has green leaves with whitish-cream stripes.

Winter: 45–50°F (7–10°C). Direct light without full sun |
Summer: 50–59°F (10–15°C). Indirect light or light shade |

Care: In winter, keep compost slightly moist; in summer, water freely and feed every 3–4 weeks. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every 2–3 years. |

Propagation: Divide congested plants in spring or early summer, when being repotted. Until established, place in 50°F (10°C). |
