Dwarf Coconut Palm, Weddel Palm: Lytocaryum weddellianum
Earlier known as Microcoelum weddellianum, Syagrus weddelliana and Cocos weddelliana, this feather-type palm has a diminutive nature, only reaching 5–6ft (1.5–1.8m) high, even after 15 years. It is claimed to be one of the prettiest palms, with slightly arching fronds bearing narrow, mid- to dark-green leaflets.

Care: In winter, keep compost barely moist; in summer, water freely but ensure good drainage, and feed every 3 weeks with weak liquid fertilizer. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot, usually every 3 years. |
